A Blooming Living Architecture: Nurturing Life

Dear Readers,

When our footsteps tread upon the diverse scapes of Contemporary Metaphysical Literature and its Metaphysical Minimalist subgenre, we are not merely engaging with static words on a page; we are entering a vibrantly intentional, living architectural space that draws from metaphysical philosophy, fused with classical and modern inspirations. This space is designed to bloom and grow the unique spiritual pathways of the person: the protagonist of focus can be a character you read, or yourself relating to the narrative, immersed in our range of three dimensional scapes.

As an artisan author, my devotion to my craft has always extended far beyond the boundaries of traditional storytelling. I view bookmaking as a
multi-disciplinary act of devotion—a process where the analytical logic of structure must cross-pollinate with the internal rhythms of the human spirit in order to cultivate new creative life.

This is the foundational, ever-growing blueprint of Soulful Formalism.

For me, the physical book page is a form of blooming, living architecture. It is a nurtured sanctuary, structured to allow inner peace and refection of the rhythms of life. Through the curation of energy, nature, genre, light, shadow and dark moments, using my Fragmentique technique, I recognise that no two people are the same and neither is a person’s presence or experience in time, so my beautifully budded fragments are written for changing perspectives and growth.

As a living architecture, the page becomes a dynamic, breathing environment. This structural rigidity is not designed to constrict, but to protect, acting like a trellis that supports vibrant, upward and outward growth. It frames and cradles the delicate, fluid and blossoming complexities of our inner emotional worlds.

Inspired by Healing Gardens

The Romantic Spirit Alight Readers’ Garden draws deep inspiration from global healing gardens designed to foster well-being through nature’s energies. In a fast-paced world, these spaces offer a chance to reconnect, heal, unearth inner quiet, and flourish, just as my work aims to do.

— Susan L. Marshall

My writing focuses on cultivating the pure lived experience, blocking out the external noise of societal saturation and focusing on fragments discovered. My curation of fragments into poetic or narrative structures, work to balance cognitive and energetic responses to life stimuli. By recognizing that we are integral, living parts of nature’s energetic flow, my work helps in releasing negativity, sprouting personal clarity, and fostering deep inner reconnection.

The fragments discovered in the formal, structural elements of my books, work to form a Master Labyrinth, that serves to provide a spiritual journey for the Romantic Spirit and to awaken a metaphysical realisation of truth for the inner mind. This allows the energetic heart to ultimately heal, branch out and flourish. Every design choice is intentional, creating a fertile, lived sanctuary where structural precision meets the emotional and spiritual growth of the reader.

“I always wonder what hope I will find across the terrain. It changes
all the time. Right now, the wind plays with it, tossing its dirt in the air, challenging
the terrain to ground itself. I remind myself that in fierceness, there is also a delicate
beauty. You just have to look in the right place to find it.”

“The Redbank forest is crying silently this morning. The red, green and golden
leaves of late autumn are separating from their branches like youngsters leaving
their nests. Carried by the wind, the leaves toss and turn, trying to gain control over their pathways through the vast, wide terrain of the world.”

“For a split moment, time stopped as I was faced with the rugged beauty of my
mother. There she stood in her tattered dress, her bare feet almost completely
buried in the sand. Across her shoulder lay two skinned rabbits, which she had
captured for us to eat. In her hand, she carried a single, tallow candle, which was
stubbornly sparking its fire into the sky.”

“The wax of my single tallow candle has melted considerably and only a tiny spark of
life remains in its fire. As I sit at this desk, its flailing light bewitches me. My hands
are clutched tightly together, trying to summon my energy to regain my composure.
Inside my heart, a deep sadness resides, creeping its way through my body.

“Lowering my hands to my womb, I feel a great sense of hollow emptiness. Once
there sat a precious life, wrestling its way inside my being and sparking my heart
with love and hope.”

“Clutch the cloth close to your heart,
let its creation speak its art.
Share its journeys across the land,
away from the dark horse’s hand.”

“It is darker than usual in my chamber tonight, not having you here to light the
tallow candles as you usually do. I used to find comfort in your warm smile as you
would spark light throughout my melancholy space.”

“Beginning to slow down, my mother walked at a steady pace, cutting through the
village and heading down to the sandy shore. The strength in her was admirable as
she continued to carry me, even as she struggled to trek through the deep sand.”

“Old, yet beloved to my family,
the cart is marked with the prints
and sweat of our ancestors,
who began our journeys in trade.

“I carry our world in this cart,
wares we have taken ages to create.
Foraging through earth and trees
to source our natural ingredients.

Wares I push with deep pride,
along the sloping, uneven terrain.
I can travel further with the cart
and expand my avenues for trade.”

“Pressing my nails firmly into the bark of the tree, I watch as a silhouette reveals
itself in the moonlight. Tall and built, the human frame enters the clearing that
I stand in. My eyes are immediately drawn to the breathtaking sight of his face.
I am familiar with those deep brown eyes, which draw me gently towards him.
I let him pull me into his warm embrace.

“Kirano!” I breathe, pressing my head against his regal blue jacket. I can hear his
heart beating rapidly with excitement.

“Aisha,” Kirano’s voice is as soothing as I remember. Looking up, I see his warm,
adoring smile. “I see that you tied your favourite silk scarf to the tree.”

“I stop in my tracks, turning to face Girl. She is limping across the grass.
I can do this!
Reaching out, I lift her in both my arms. She straddles her legs around my waist
and leans her head against my left shoulder.
Girl is heavy but I seem to manage. Finding my inner strength, I support her
weight in my arms. My feet continue to pelt across the grass and onto the
cement of the car park.”

“My heart is beating furiously but I harness my strength. Grabbing the Chief’s hands
from around my back, I twist around and free myself. “Don’t move,” I say, grasping
him firmly around the neck in a tight headlock. “Or I will strengthen my grip.”

“Girl grabs Dari’s hand. “Don’t forget what it’s like to run, Dari.
Do you remember the feeling of the breeze flying through your hair when we used
to run through the forest? We were young and freer then, with thoughts of how
we’d like our futures to be.”

“We slept under stark trees, staring up at the stars as the night
announced itself. Stars that were constant and shone regardless of the danger or
fear that we faced. They soothed my young, terrified heart and gave me hope that
one day we would be safe again.”

“Now I inhale the air, the microcosmic particles of the earth and all that I tread upon.
I keep inhaling, drawing in the fragments of time that we have both make shifted
our ways through. Their presence, their fleeting moments, their courage, their truths,
cannot ever be captured in a single breath.

“Exhaling, my breath is strong, trekking an age of light, which glows dimly in the
distance. Light that bounces across the earth, flashing images of familiar, warm faces,
tallow candles, silk and red gum trees. Moments of precious heritage that should be
treasured and prolonged.”

A wicked smirk crosses Dari’s lips and he steps closer until his face is level with
Girl’s. “Break your soul we will,” he spits, his eyes sparking and sinister. “You and
your empire have no place in this world and will be wiped from living memory.”

“As the sun continued to rise, the tune became more intoxicating, lulling me into
a completely relaxed state. I allowed my mind to drift, imagining I was walking
through a pretty meadow full of roses. In my mind’s eye, I held a rose flower in my
hands and sniffed at it, my eyes shining with pure happiness.

“In my dreamy state, the air smelled of roses, warming my spirit and coaxing me to
stop and rest. Lying back in the grass, I stretched my arms up to the sky, inviting
the sun to join me. Warm tingles rippled across my skin and eased the pressure
in my head. I was light, drifting through the breeze and letting the wind
take me somewhere untouched and soothing.”

“Reaching out, Mitch grabs hold of my hand and kisses it gently. “My beautiful wife,” he says softly. “I miss you so much.”

“I close my eyes, feeling the bittersweet familiarity of his hand in mine. In my heart I always believed that I would be holding his hand forever. I never thought that he’d stray.”

“In our hyper vigilant states our hearts did wrestle, determined to live and fight.
We were willing to sacrifice contentment for that single, valuable breath.”

“The Sun missed the Queen’s presence
and did not shine its day’s rays.
So the land existed in perpetual night,
unable to fully flourish and thrive.”

“The land had no new growth
as sunlight was only reflected
by the large and present moon.
In darkness, Eucalyptus trees wilted away.”

“As sea water sprayed against her arms,
Princess Zyra stood tall and brave.
Sand seeping between her fingers,
she met the gaze of the full moon.”

“Across the very deep dark night,
the moon cast the Princess aglow
with a white light that gifted her
a wavy and wondrous magic.”

“”We are the Birri,” the creatures smiled,
as they soaked themselves in the tide.
“We are born from the sea-water
and have extraordinary taste for food.”

“Jara, I need you,” called the Princess,
watching as the moonlight shifted,
transforming into a wise young girl,
who glowed alight with vibrant life.”

“As the tide rolled in at evenings,
it gifted the open castle rooms,
wondrous visions of the worlds
that existed far beyond the sea.”

“Jara waved her hand up high,
summoning the sand to rise.
It formed a very secret room,
floating in the windy air.”

“Jara’s jet black hair shone,
strands wispy in the open room.
It extended to a pink dress,
whose Kyva petals laughed and flew.”

“The petals told of journeys taken
upon dark haired Jara’s back.
To places where magic was needed
to help creatures use their senses.”

“Coro stretched and hummed,
squinting and widening eyes.
Looking up, their lenses crackled,
aglow with the light of fire.”

“Jara smiled a sly, secret smile.
“A stain with a special story,
linked to a mysterious smell.
Ride with me to help?”

“The Water Dragon’s eyes showed Coro and Birri,
playing under bright moonbeams.
Such happiness Princess Zyra craved,
desiring to play with her friends.”

“Using their elongated fingers,
the Birri cast magic spells in secret.”

“Princess Zyra’s eyes turned to water,
grateful for the stone’s understanding.
Lands existed where she could be,
a girl with friends who played freely.”

“The midnight blue would turn to sky,
launching the Princess way up high.
Upon her hands the sparkles would jump,
navigating her flight to new play lands.”

“Jara waved her hand in the air,
summoning a Water Dragon.
“Your friend will help you sister,” she said.
“Her courage will carry you very high.”

“Starry sparks rest your shine,
light will travel through its times.
Love will clear the lost storm,
bringing the deep sky back home.”

“Harnessing winter’s energy, I drift,
my free, wild woman’s soul,
alight with day’s deep desires.”

(Wild Woman Soul)

“Upon the tiled roof of the Duomo,
my soul soars high above me.
Spanning its wings like a bird,
flying over the city’s houses.”

(O Sweet Florence, Unearth My Soul)

“Our bonfire burns brightly,
alighting our hot harvest.
Scarce seeds of winter’s heat,
as its first dawn inflames.
Sprouting into a plant
that roots within my soul.”

(Winter Solstice’s Secret)

“The hour’s bell tolls,
like the weight of snow,
burying the world of sight.
Eternal time that passes,
forsaking heart’s song.”

(Dark Storm Melody)

“Beneath my bare skin is a carriage,
a tiny tethered home that houses
my beating, burnt coal heart,
searching for its lost flame of love.”

(Lost Flame of Love)

“Her hut is harshly bare,
like her child’s stomach.
Screaming in despair,
her cries bud feathers.”

(Silent Flight)

“Protecting all I have left,
my arms reach very high.
Shards of my battled sleeves
rip away, escaping slander.

“Afloat they transform,
into tiny, pointed particles.
Free, wild roaming ideas,
artistry alive beyond storm.”

(Wild Artist’s Soul)

“She exists in sands of time,
asway in stinging breeze.
Skirt pocket full of fevered
tears of her traumatic days.”

(Stirring her Storm)

“Dipping my bare brush
into your garish gold eyes,
I draw your dreams close.
They dance divinely within,
sparkling silhouettes alight.”

(Harboured Love)

“I chase you voice across grass,
wet with drops of tears,
frosted with the fall of snow,
seeking you out of shadows.”

(Your Voice Hides)

“Cold frost, quieten my heart,
that thumps ferociously like
the untamed snow storm
that left its mad mark
with piles of painful white.”

(Cold Frost, Quieten My Heart)

“I see a face as free as air,
abreeze amongst the aged wind.
A spiritual lightness that scatters
into a million fine fragments
that I yearn to seek and save,
to put the pieces back together.”

(Tiny, Soulful Dancer)

“In danger, we estrange ourselves,
releasing our wild silhouettes
from our raw, hunted souls.”

(Love’s Wild Silhouette)

“Ice’s isolation preserves me,
fossilizing my stoic solitude.
No eyes to meet horizons
or words to fill the gaps.”

(Stoic Solitude)

“Foreign to her wild,
is this cluster of light.
Sparking in her palm,
awakening her night.
Rising from the dirt,
her body thaws frost.
It is her hour to hunt
for a way back to life.”

(Wild Alive)

“Hold onto my fire heart,
kindling its wilful embers
in the glaring, grey night.
Winter’s chill has set in,
biting us with bitterness
and dousing our fire.”

(Hold onto My Fire Heart)

“Her hot flame melts the chill
as she draws me into her arms.
Her kiss a streak of lightening,
that electrifies my deep soul.”

“Let my heart’s warmth
glow an amber-rose,
soothing
and soaring
my spirit.”

(Bare Spirit)

“Bare spirit facing shore,
frothy and icy white.
Soul sinking in sand’s sighs,
light subdued by sea water.”

(Shedding at Shore)

“I feel you now,
your spirit is present.
Your raw flute aches
deep within my soul”

(Raw Flute)

“I ate the very last food scraps,
starving for the light up above.
That was when I saw you new buds,
your stems reaching into the dark.”

(Seeking Sanctuary)

“Midnight eyes, she has,
blending with the dark.
Camouflaging her spirit
amongst jet ink night.”

(Spirit Tree)

“Bare nocturne gleams,
a canopy of star light above.
A pent up constellation
of our restrained love.
Buried spirits we’ve become,
forbidden by our families
to surrender to our desires.”

(Bare Nocturne)

“Your hand in mine,
an age of bliss
and miles
of wander across
lands we dare.”

(Lost in Your Wonder)

“My feet stand in grass
mowed and wet,
drops of water shine.
It has rained,
so have my eyes.”

(Sky Bound)

“For what is a life that isn’t shared,
no matter its fortune or hardships?
Whatever worn bric-a-brac remains
is a trail to follow into a human heart.”

(Heart’s Walk)

Walking dawn my steps are heavy,
the pebbles skirting into my heart.
Stones that are my weight of grief,
remnant dust of life once lived.

(Pebbled Grief)

“Your manicured lawn did dissipate,
revealing a garden dug with holes.
Secrets germinated deep within,
blossoming into botanical madness.

“A mix of grass stalks and fallen leaves,
swept single letters across the ground.
Digging and planting them into the dirt,
you helped me bring earth to my words.”

(Awakening North)

“Your light appears,
a throbbing glow
that stirs my soul.
Your deep, intense eyes
gaze straight into mine,
ablazing my light
with a fiery flame.”

(Bare Desire)

“Extinguishing flame in ice cold,
I watch stinging scars form.
Standing solo under sheer white,
my ragged breath is iced.
I am as frozen as the death
that plagues my waking.
I am all who remains of my tribe.”

(Warrior Spirit)

“I could follow dusk always,
brushing it with stripes and dots
of simple beginnings
for us to share in time.”

(Dusk Heart)

“Like clay was the sand in my fingers,
moulding into hooded, echoing figures.
Past clay voices mixed with sea water,
gurgling words of anger and blame.

I now smear sand clay upon my dress,
white linen heavy with new marks.
I carry the harsh voices as I spin around
and open my arms to the lighthouse.”

(New Clay Linen)

“Years have passed since my life met,
the weather at sail beneath its soul.
Like nature I tread the ever changing,
my heart and mind open to all I face.”

(A Writer’s Company)

“Whispering wind,
a quiet breath
exhaled across years
of tiny, fragments of light.
Glowing in the breeze,
like silent fireworks,
accentuating my wanders
through life’s debris.”

“We must fight for our hopes, Samuel,
they are too precious to lose.
If we carry enough hope, we can heal the world.”

“Echoes of life call to me,
like sparks of hope in the darkness.
Times of play and freedom …

“The trees we would climb,
higher and higher towards the sky,
releasing our dreams towards the heavens.”

“I am awash with a sea of gratitude,
that fills every crevice of my body.
I feel as though I am floating freely
out across a wide, calm ocean.”

“Stepping onto the crease,
I tense my body in anticipation of the worst.
I am rising higher now as the crease grows,
forming into a large, dotted green hill.”

“The land of Maren, my island,
calls to me in my fretful sleep.
Like dancing ribbons of light,
it winds its memories around
my starved, yearning torso,
tearing at my aching heart.”

“I am twirling now,
unravelling a ribbon memory
of light, warm sand
and cresting waves around me.”

“Wanderers they are, across the
unpredictable wrath of day and night.
Bearers of battle’s anguish, they see
more of the world than we, in these confines.

“Unknown to us, are the reasons for such fight,
that strip the souls of man with live fire.
“Sitting ducks are we, to war’s wrath.”

“You must keep your eyes open,
don’t lose yourself here in Maren.
The dark can coax and hide you,
stripping you of your glowing light
and nurturing the very fears that torment you.”

“I feel the searing, burning of my hands,
caught alight by the red-tipped fire.
Silent I am, mesmerised by the flames
that have now caught me in their trap.”

“Instinctively, I flap my arms beside me,
streaking fire across the sky
with my red flamed, fluttering wings.

“High I am, staring down at
the creased world below me.
A world that I have sworn to protect.”

“I allow myself to believe
that I may just be that bird,
taking a small adventure
across my tiny island.

“I could have wings that soar,
high above the red stained streets
into a much calmer, brighter sky.”

“Rage on, anger will,
be it day or night,
an existence that has emptied me
of light’s vibrancy.

“A walking shadow I have become.
My soul’s pockets empty of life.”

“The carnation flower’s scent
is fragrant in the breeze.
It wakes me so I escape
the dark world of dreams.”

“I am so distracted,
stuck somewhere between
the earth and sky,
unsure where to set my eyes.”

“You are my middle ground, canvas.
You may be blank, yet full of promise.
Maybe you can help me see properly again.”

“Our hearts are real, Sherwin,
they continue to beat,
even through buried time.”

“There has to be something, Fleur.
A petal, a carpel, anything that may
have propelled itself into that air.
Fought to breathe, to exist.”

“You are so warm, Fleur.
I can feel your heart beat.
It’s like a million butterfly wings,
giving life to my fleeting soul.”

“My arms are light and free
and my body is outstretched,
kissing the blue streaks.
I can breathe freely here.
It is soothing this moment,
an elation I treasure.”

“Yes, I see it.
It is falling to the ground.
Scarred with burn holes and marks,
yet still it floats.
It whispers gently in the wind like Fleur with all her hope.”

“She was there, waiting for me.
Standing surrounded by a meadow of lavender,
her arms opened wide for me
to run into and cry and cry …”

“The dress I seek cannot be found.
It is tucked away deeply inside
the constant flickering shadows
of my very absent mind.”

“Distracted I was, by his dark eyes,
his promises that we would have time,
away from all this mayhem,
somewhere secluded and private.
A chance to be lost in each other.”

“I’m sitting in the aftermath, Fleur,
still absorbing what happened.
I don’t know every detail, just some.”

“The autumn leaves remind me of my own faded memories.
The leaves hold their own precious stories,
which drift about in the wind,
finding a new place to settle
and continue to exist.

The bare branches of the elm tree
still stand tall and strong, like I do.
It is a reminder that life still continues
even during the most adverse times.”

The Soul’s Harvest:
The Pomarium of Romantic Academia

Welcome to a landscape of absolute quietude. Here, we step away from the rush of the modern world to breathe within the mysteriously harvested spaces of the soul. We gift you the Romantic Academia that inspires the creation of Soulful Formalist Contemporary Metaphysical Literature.

The terrain, built, and cosmic realms of this Pomarium are dedicated to the eternal romantic spirit in us all. We invite you to step into these sacred, walled orchards of history, gathering the mysterious, life-giving fruit and scholarly muses that nourish Susan L. Marshall’s creations:

Raw Physics Pathways

The Inspiration: Outdoors, we acknowledge the significance of metaphysical First Reality principles by attuning ourselves to the literal laws of nature, thermodynamics and raw physics of life: radiant energy (such as a ray of light shining through leaves on a branch); kinetic energy (such as a tall crest of waves roaring in the sea) or potential energy (such as the gravitational energy stored in a seagull’s body before it drops, free flying off a cliff edge). The author’s sensory attunement to such energies has served as the living foundation of her metaphysical philosophy of First Reality since childhood, long before it was formally codified. The energies enable us to capture the hero of the moment, through their presences in life, to flesh out through writing and art. They are classified as Heightened Energy fragments (a method of our signature Fragmentique technique), which can be reconstructed into ‘heroic’ moments that we scatter throughout our Master Labyrinth pathways in our works, leading the ‘Carrier’ and its Romantic Spirit (protagonist) to sanctuary and truth.

The Ancient Garden

The Inspiration: Within the ancient flora and terrain of this garden, we study the epic narrative scale and raw pathos of Ancient Greek Literature, along with the foundations of Metaphysics. We are inspired by Aristotle’s First Philosophy and Stoicism, along with the lyrical beauty of writing, epic and intimate life foci and ancient views of macro – micro cosmos. We are inspired by the lyrical works of Sophocles, Homer and Aeschylus, along with Stoic Philosophers such as Zeno and Epictetus. We apply our unique lenses to the conventions of pathos and catharsis in the creations of our own Metaphysical Minimalist literature.

The Eastern Meridian (The Garden of Ma and Kisei)

The Inspiration: Stepping onto a path of profound minimalism and dynamic energetic flow. This sanctuary integrates the sacred Japanese concepts of Ma (the living, active negative space and quietude between edges) and Kisei, (the structural momentum and vital energy of the brushstroke). By translating these ancient aesthetic codes and the living energy of life into our narrative architecture, we treat the white, silent gaps on the page not as empty void, but as a breathing canvas that vibrates with life force, inviting the reader’s spirit to rest, heal, and find absolute illumination.

The Shan Shui Vista

The Inspiration: Stepping into the ancient, sacred geometry of traditional Chinese mountain-water art. Within this vista, we explicitly translate the classical San-e-ho (the three-tier architectural perspective of hanging scrolls) directly into our narrative, visual and world-building frameworks. We anchor the background summit in cliffs and sky, charge the middle-ground void with energetically mystical and celestial symbols, and position the primary narrative focus / protagonist in the intimate foreground. By utilising inspiration from this structural geometry to visually shape the landscapes and mysticism of Princess Zyra and contemplating the tiny dwellings nestled at the mountain peaks, we find absolute peace; calculating the exact structural point where microscopic human existence dissolves into the infinite macro-cosmos.

The Renaissance Orchard

The Inspiration: Stepping into the elegant geometry, pristine symmetry, and structural clarity of the golden age of rebirth. This orchard honors the focus of the Natural Sciences on the paradoxes between the infinite and finite, in relation to the life and presence of worlds, characters and the Romantic Spirit throughout time. Inspired by the ‘hidden mysteries’ of this era, along with studies of the Grand Design (along with the Ancient Greek vies of macro-micro existence), we have developed our own Macro-micro matrix, a tripartite, interchangeable formula that is applied to the larger world (cosmos, terrestrial and built); social friction for the Romantic Spirit and micro soul focus that is consistent every publication. This formula unveils through an interactive Master Labyrinth that reveals the hidden stories, moments, metaphysical truths and identity of the protagonist, as well as the metaphysical truth and personal discovery for the reader. In this way, the hard earned journey and revelation of deeper truth leads to a sanctuary of integrity and intellectual homecoming.

We may also apply Madrigal polyphony and counterpoint to the written word, valuing ability to navigate world and spiritual vies through structure. Within this space, we trace the intricate architectural scaffolding of classic form, translating sfumato (the soft blending of light and shadow) into a modern literary technique that veils contemporary characters in rich, psychological and spiritual mystery; harvesting a refined harmony that lends the text its luminous, enduring grace.

The Baroque Illuminary

The Inspiration: Stepping into the profound depth, intense emotional currents, and dramatic contrast of the age of shadows and light. Within this illuminary, we explore chiaroscuro as a high contrast of life, emotion and thematic exploration. We also channel the Baroque Fugue into a reverberation of historical to present collective voices, the unsaid, specific symbols and their re-representation and themes throughout time and space. We are inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s mastery of light, in our optical application of light across our literary architecture: moving from the macro-cosmos down to the micro-intimacy of a soul illuminated in a lit space. We translate pointillé into writing: delicate, point-like fragments of pure narrative light to show the journey of interior hopes, dreams and thoughts. We also apply sfumato, the soft, smoky blending of tone to blur the lines between time periods, memories or states of being. This captures the fleeting journey of the Romantic Spirit’s existence, unravelled through mystery and intrigue.

The Metaphysical Branches

The Inspiration: Metaphysical studies inform our major philosophical approach through our writing and art. Respecting the lineage of Aristotle’s First Philosophy and the work of the Metaphysical Poets of the 17th century, we work to ensure that our unique Metaphysical Minimalist subgenre remains structured accurately and is consistent for every publication. We use the classic conventions of: deep intellectualism and colloquial diction and have reshaped metaphysical conceit from mere decoration into existing within structured paradox(es). Focused on the First Reality experience of the ‘Carrier’ and its Romantic Spirit, bringing our unique narrative voice: Conscious Shifting Form Contours to this work. Through this voice we demonstrate how its engagements with the interchangable, metaphysical: states of existence, free will, ontology, relativity, consciousness and/or cause and effect lead to its conscious shifts in perception of natural and physical forms surrounding it, mirroring a visceral human nervous system response to every day life occurrences. This approach works to demonstrate the lightness and fluidity of First Reality, through a spiritual lens that is unique to our work.

The Romantic Source (Our Core Spiritual Hero and Landscape)

The Inspiration: Our focus on Romanticism prioritises the late Romantic Era, leading into Impressionism and Minimalism. We are inspired by earlier poets, such as Percy Bysshe Shelley and William Blake; yet also later era authors, such as Frances Hodgson Burnett, Johanna Spyri and L. M. Montgomery. We are also inspired by music composed by: Erik Satie, Claude Debussy and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Our studies in Romanticism begin with categorising light fragments: light (Romanticist), shadow (dark Romanticist) and darkness (Gothic), continuing on from our Metaphysical Noir et Blanc method (from our signature Fragmentique technique). This provides us with the foundational canvas for the development and exploration of the ‘Carrier’ and its Romantic Spirit as the protagonist of our story / poem. Such focus on light also assists with the development and drive of our signature Raw Mystery Noir Velocity plot engine, which works to carry the protagonist through its own distinctive life mystery, at varying paces, for example, slow burn, moderate or fast paced. Our plots ensure our protagonist has a safe journey through the varying Romanticist shades, working towards unveiling their own metaphysical truth and hard earned sanctuary.

From the light of Romanticism, we adorn our protagonist with independence, social justice, emotional truth and a connection to nature, that is aligned with the era’s genre.

The Gothic Vault

The Inspiration: Stepping into the atmospheric architecture and profound structural suspense of the age of shadows. Within this space, we harness classic gothic architecture, inspiration from author Edgar Allen Poe, dark secrets and ancient curses as revelatory safe spaces for a Romantic Spirit’s story. The darkness is not fearful, yet a provision of light to reveal the upcoming brightness of sanctuary.

The Dark Romantic Mirror

The Inspiration: Plunging into the profound psychological depths and emotional intensity of the uncanny. At times drawing direct inspiration from the masterwork of Emily Brontë and the poetic writings of the Brontë sisters, along with E.T.A. Hoffmann. Rather than merely looking at the dark, this realm investigates the shadows and darkness of light and what it reveals for human and spiritual complexity. Here, we use the darkness as a cosmic mirror to dismantle external reality, transforming the text into an emotional crucible where the deepest, hidden textures of the psyche are brought into accordance with the eternal Romantic Spirit.

The Victorian and Pastoral Borderlands

The Inspiration: Stepping into the atmospheric dualities of an age of industry, social structure, and untamed landscape, drawing direct inspiration from the masterworks of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy. Within this realm, we explore the social justice and paradoxical realities that surface between pastoral ideals and a modern industrialist society. We value how the spirit thrives in places of citizenship and belonging, much like that discovered in the Moors in classical texts. We are inspired by the poinant presence and haunting echoes of life that reverberate through classical characters such as Miss Havisham, allowing us to provide a deep sense of stature, presence, motivation and unique imprint in time and place for our protagonist, their environment, the larger body of people and their world issue(s) of focus.

The Impressionist Perception

Impressionism fuels the perceptions of the protagonists of our works, allowing us to study the field art and optical variance of light, inspired by impressionist painters such Renoir, Monet and Pissaro. In this area, we work to frame the protagonist’s interactions with varying shades of Romantic light as their own impressions of single moments of time. We capture the First Reality, using written techniques that allow us to explore the light, dark and shadow as pointillé and the fleeting effects of motion, light and atmosphere. We also experiment with how such Romantic shades can be enhanced through the effect of new or enhanced colour in light, shadow and darkness. Working En plain air, we draw from the exact conditions of light, world and moment, using it to fuel the written, aesthetic and raw sketched illustrative experiences. We leave our pencil strokes purely visible on our illustrations, representing the energy and vibrancy of that pure lived moment of creation.

Through such perceptive techniques, we ensured that moments are navigated by the protagonist as immediate, lived, First Reality experiences that are not only metaphysical, yet connected with deeper emotional and psychological impressions. We work to reveal the deeper emotional resonance and truths of the spirit and its soul.

Relativity as Perception

The Inspiration: Where science and mysticism converge to redefine the fabric of reality. Inspired by Albert Einstein’s theories of relativity, this space uses mathematical physics to physically and mentally position the protagonist within time, space, and place. By altering their perception at precise, deliberate degrees or angles, we completely shatter the traditional structure of narrative. Here, we harness the power of symmetry, allowing concepts, thoughts, and words to echo across distant time frames to show how they reverberate and continue in accordance with the eternal Romantic Spirit. We flesh out their perceptions: immediate responses and interactions with past and present moments with a relative and spatial perspective, that works to enhance their ontology and existence.. The architectural form of the story explicitly mirrors the cosmic truth that all existence, memory, and dimension are fluid, moving relative to the individual perception of the observer.

Psychological Theories

The Inspiration: Our unique Theatre Playcapes style is specifically supported by the psychological theories of the practitioners: Sigmeund Freud, Jean Piaget and Abraham Maslow in order to create a theatrical style that provides opportunity for young adults (at age appropriate levels), to enhance their autonomy as individuals, through a balance of cognitive (psychological) and energetic (emotional), exploration. This enables us to create theatre that works to enhance the creativity, autonomy and wellbeing of the young adult artist.

The Modernist Rambles

The Inspiration: The arena of bold, structural experimentation and beautifully unscripted journeys. This space honors the pioneering, non-linear architecture of twentieth-century modernism. We are inspired by the innovative works of playwrights such as: Tenessee Williams, Anton Chekhov and Samuel Beckett, along with the literary works of Virginia Woolf. By shattering predictable timelines, dismantling traditional narrative continuity, using non-linear textual scenography and allowing the text to wander through a complex Master Labyrinth of fragments, we challenge the reader to step outside the comfort of passive reading. It transforms the book into an active, intellectual ramble of self-discovery and deep metaphysical truth.
